January 2025 Journal Update

I don't know how your February was but mine was a bit hectic! Hectic is not my preferred mode, I appreciate a good half-arsed, half asleep month but that is not what we got. Too bad but at least I got a bit of arty-farting done along the way so let's check that oot!

Here's my self portrait for this month, I was going for a submerged, nocturnal lake surface sort of look so I gave the whole sheet a dousing of diluted indigo to start with. I'm pleased with the spooky, moody result and will be keeping it in mind.

I added to my collection of lil watercolours as well, especially enjoying the Potter's Pink on those mushrooms! Why choose between pink or an earth tone when you can have both in one pigment?

Speaking of pink, mixed media adventures continue in my Pink Book. I was making use of my hand painted stickers and the same moody blue tones from the self portrait.

My Wee Book of Warm Ups stayed toasty this month, as random and aimless as my brain every time I sit down to paint.

My Yellow Book was probably the most fun of February, lots of cheery yellow and texture and therapeutic scribbling of coloured pencil over gouache paint.

In my Brown Book I was playing around with coloured layers over the tops of drawings, mostly tissue paper and tracing paper layered with acrylic ink.

Finally, my square Watercolour notebook is reminding me that I want to do MORE watercolour painting at ALL times. Hopefully in March!

Well that's your lot for February. My brain has turned to vegan swiss cheese so I'm off the end the month with a hot bath and early night but I'll be back at the end of March with my homework!
