October 2024 Journal Update
I'll be honest with you, I'm currently spending all my spare time playing the video game Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader and am itching to get back to defending my realm from Drukhari raiders. So no small talk, straight in to the October update, let's go go go!
Starting as usual with a stack of little postcard landscapes, looking a little post apocalyptic this month (is it that red sun?!) but I don't mind it. See them properly here in their own wee gallery.
I also added four more square studies to my still life section, hopefully these are setting me up for a big piece I'll get done before the year is out...
I've done a bunch of mushroom inspired pieces so I've grouped them in a convenient Myco Gallery for you to take a closer look at goodies such as this trio of repurposed photo frames:
And these A3 canvas boards that had previously just been layers of scrap and left over paint:
And this square repurposed frame which I am DELIGHTED with, though I've been gazing at it so much that I feel like it's gazing back....
Speaking of gazing, I also added to my line up of A3 faces with this fantasy themed, gold leafed piece. I'm hooked on that last layer of shiny so next month's will probably be even more gaudy!
I also ran the October weekly sessions for Galashiels Studio Club and covered a range from drawing to composition to illustrating mushrooms to colour mixing. I really liked doing four in a row and being able to draw on the previous session to introduce the new class.
And that's your lot, October 2024! I have a BIG fun landscape planned for November so I'll be back in a month to share that and link it below when it's up. Once I finish my first play through of Rogue Trader, of course.
