April 2024 Update

It's been a very soggy April but I'm out the other end now, relatively dry and unscathed! I've also left it pretty late in the month to write this update so let's go go go...

...And start off the month with my usual round up of this month's little warm up landscapes. I feel like this particular set are more pastel and whimsical than usual? I'm not sure why as I personally remain as dour and goth as ever. Click the image to go see the individual pieces.

I did another three paint overs of previous landscapes this month, though these ones are much smaller. You can see the colours of the old painting around the edge and I think they make quite a nice frame! I've popped them in the gallery with the other landscape paint overs, click the composite to go take a better look.

My sister modelled for this big portrait which is actually a paint over of a landscape from last year. The underlying landscape is still visible around the edges and in the torso, as well as contributing some lovely texture all over the piece. Sorry that I turned you blonde, Lindie!

Here's another addition to my series of A3 faces, watercolour and acrylic on gessoed watercolour paper. I'm actually in love with using watercolour over acrylic gesso. Look at that background texture, gorgeous! Click through to go to it’s new home in the A3 gallery.

I cracked on in my square sofa sketchbook, though I mostly worked on it while stewarding at Little Art Hub. I'm looking forward to wrapping it up next month and moving on to a series of small watercolour pieces inspired by my work in this book. In the meantime, click the image below to view the full sketchbook so far.

I was also working in my Beechmore while at the Hub, I had some pages prepped with left over acrylic paint in advance and worked over in pencil, watercolour and acrylic markers. Click the composite below to see it in the main Beechmore gallery.

I also put together a small exhibition of sketchbooks from myself and other artists at Little Art Hub so please enjoy these images of my beautifully and carefully designed poster for the event and shot of my live sketchbooking and caffeinating station.

Well that's you all caught up and me off to finish the month with some video games and ramen. So far my plans for next month involve three panoramic landscapes and a bunch of wee watercolours. I'll be back at the end of May with another update and I'll link it below when it's up. If I come back with that update and there are no panoramic landscapes sssshhhhh just wipe this last paragraph from your memory.
