May 2024 Journal Update

Alright, I'm going to try to knock this journal update out quickly because I just received the World of Cyberpunk 2077 lore and art book and I need to make an iced coffee and read it in the garden. I NEED to, choom.

So let's start in the usual way, with this month's series of A6 landscapes. I love this batch, look at some of those blue/pink combos! I've just chopped up some more paper for the next lot, no plan to stop yet. Click the composite to go see the full range.

So the biggest painting I made in May was actually done over the top of a seven year old acrylic painting. You can still see some of the old piece around the edges but it's mostly buried under layers of gesso and tissue paper. I really enjoy this piece (which I named Bounty, though it is free of coconut) and was relieved that the little birds turned out nicely, not something I draw often. Maybe I'll do more?

I continued painting over landscapes from the last couple of years and can you tell that May had some sunny days?! I've added them to the ReScaped gallery.

I then put together these little mixed media thank-you cards for attendees of my workshop. That greyish blue with a pop of orange? Gawjus!

I also added this to my line-up of A3 faces. I think my favourite bit is the zingy hearts of the flowers next to the soft watercolour petals. Check out below or with the others in the appropriate gallery.

The sun did something to my pale brain this month, I felt possessed by the ghost of Monet and wanted to go look at a lake. So me, my da and my sister went to the nearby Haining estate on a lovely day. Afterwards I popped out these pieces and plan to do more this summer sooooo new dedicated gallery page.

I didn't do much sketchbooking this month but I did finish my little square sofa sketchbook. This was a great sketchbook to work in and I already have a new, different square sketchbook to take it's place next month. Click the composite below to go see the whole thing:

I had some paintings up in a group show at Little Art Hub, including brand spanking new Bounty!

I then delivered a watercolour and mixed media workshop as part of this series with other artists. Work by attendees was then displayed alongside our own, very fun!

That's your lot for May! I'll be back at the end of June with...I'm not sure, I haven't done it yet! I'll link it below when it's up.
