August 2023 Update

I started August by doing an acrylic painting of my recently deceased and very beloved Sheltie, Cas, to go up in the living room. Lots of layers of modelling paste in that floof to try and capture her big soft presence.

It's been a very rainy August, which is mostly fine by me as I disintegrate in direct sunlight. But I still got out some of my sunny photos from last summer and did these three wee sunny paintings to make sure I got my vitamin D for the month. Click the composite to check them out in the Acrylic landscape gallery.

I also continued playing around with watercolour on an acrylic base, click through the image to find this month's experiments in the Hybrid gallery.

I did a fair bit of watercolour this month, mostly across these two sketchbooks that are now finished! Towards the end I was using it for simplified portraits with an eye on a mixed media project I want to do later in the year. The A4 is more finished pieces and the mini is mostly colour mixes and experiments. Click the front covers to see the full gallery for each.

I've been messing around with colourful still life in gouache. I like the matte, bright colours and want to use it to depict fabrics and clothes in larger mixed media pieces. Click the composite to see my new gouache gallery.

You may notice that I've been working across different kinds of paint. I'm cooking up a project to end the year on which will bring them together so I'll be planning that over September. If that September journal is already up I'll link it below, otherwise thanks for reading early and have a good month!
